Roku released the trailer for their original film Weird: The Al Yankovic Story today. The movie stars Daniel Radcliffe as “Weird Al” and will stream this fall for free on The Roku Channel.
“Weird Al” Yankovic’s prolific career as a parody artist dates back to the 1970s. He is now one of the best-selling comedy recording artists of all time and a five-time Grammy winner. His biographical film is made with Yankovic’s blessing and promises to tell the “untold true story” of his life.
Yankovic serves as both writer and producer in conjunction with production companies Funny or Die and Tango. Eric Appel, whose credits include Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Office, directs and co-wrote the script.
Other actors on the project include Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna and Rain Wilson as Dr. Demento.
