We’ve known for a while now that a merger of sorts was in the cards for Showtime and Paramount+. While they’ve long offered a “Showtime Bundle,” you no longer need to subscribe to a more expensive plan to get Showtime series like Yellowjackets alongside Paramount+ shows like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
This does come, however, with a slight price hop. This article will break down everything you need to know.

How to get Paramount+ with Showtime
Every subscriber on the Paramount+ Premium plan (now referred to as Paramount+ with Showtime) will have full access to Showtime including shows like Billions and The Chi, movies from A24, and sports like Showtime Championship Boxing in addition to a live feed of the Showtime channel. This all occurs directly through the Paramount+ app without a need to switch to a separate, Showtime app.
Of course these members still get the other perks of a Premium membership like ad-free shows and movies, access to your local CBS station, and offline downloads.
The new price for the Paramount+ Premium plan is $11.99/mo or $119.99/yr (previously $9.99/mo or $99.99/yr.). Current customers will automatically convert to this plan, with the new pricing taking effect on the first billing cycle on or after July 27th, 2023.
If you were previously subscribed to the Paramount+ Premium with Showtime bundle, everything stays the same including the pricing. This is the new Paramount+ Premium plan but now under a (slightly) different name.
What will happen to the Showtime app?
Showtime will remain a standalone app until the end of the year, but will not accept new subscribers after July 7th, 2023. At the time of publication it is still available as an add-on to services like YouTube TV.
As for the Showtime cable channels, these will reportedly get new branding soon although this also has yet to take affect at the time of publication.
So what about the Paramount+ Essential Plan?
The Essential plan remains the same as it was before, providing access to ad-supported shows and movies plus some live sports like NFL on CBS and UEFA Live. Showtime is not included with this plan.
The price will go up $1 from $4.99/mo. to $5.99/mo or $59.99/yr. on the billing cycle on or after July 27th, 2023.
What if I get Paramount+ with a Walmart+ subscription?
Unfortunately, since Walmart+ only includes the Paramount+ Essential plan, there is no way to get Showtime for free as a Walmart+ member. You will need to sign up for a paid Paramount+ Premium plan for $11.99/mo if you want access to Showtime.
