What You Need to Know First About Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration

Similar to the 2019 special The Little Mermaid Live!, this Beauty and the Beast tribute will feature footage of the animated film mixed in with new performances of its musical numbers.

It’s produced by Jon M. Chu, the director of In the Heights, Crazy Rich Asians, and the upcoming movie adaptation of Wicked. The cast features H.E.R. as Belle, Josh Groban as the Beast, Joshua Henry as Gaston, Rita Moreno as the Narrator, Martin Short as Lumière, and Shania Twain as Mrs. Potts.

The original voice actress behind Belle (Paige O’Hara) as well as the original voices of the Beast (Richard White) and composer Alan Menken will also make cameo appearances. A tribute to the late Angela Lansbury is planned as well.

With a lavish production featuring all-new sets, hundreds of new costumes (including a massive puppetry suit for the Beast), and a live audience at Disney Studios, this television special is set to be a memorable one.
