‘Wednesday’ Breaks Viewer Record in its First Week on Netflix

The new supernatural horror comedy series Wednesday, which centers on the The Addams Family daughter, brought in 341.23 million hours of watch time in its first week on Netflix. This marks a new record for an English-language series on the streaming service.

The previous record holder was Stranger Things 4, which got 335M hours of watch time in its first week debut. 

As for the the all-time record holder? That goes to the Korean language series Squid Game, which got an 571.8M hours of viewership in its first week.

Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy. While there, she learns she has psychic abilities and attempts to solve a murder mystery. 

The cast is rounded out by Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Riki Lindhome. Christina Ricci also appears in the series, as well as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Fred Arimisen and Isaac Ordonez

It’s directed and produced by Tim Burton. Al Gourgh and Miles Millar serve as show runners.
