After months of speculation, we finally have the details on the upcoming ad-supported plan for Disney+. It appears that this new plan will come along with a price hike for the ad-free tier, as well as price increase for Hulu

This comes after Netflix announced details for their own ad-supported plan last month, an idea that was once unheard of for the company.

What to Know About Ads on Disney+

The new tiers for Disney+ will be called “Basic” and “Premium.”

  • The Basic plan, that includes ads, will run for $7.99 per month
  • The Premium plan, without ads, will go for $10.99 a month or $109.99 per year.

The Disney Bundle (that includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+) will have three tiers:

  • The first tier includes Disney+ and Hulu, both with ads but without ESPN+, for $9.99 a month.
  • The second includes Disney+ and Hulu, both with ads and also with ESPN+, for $12.99 a month.
  • The third option is the Premium bundle which includes Disney+ without ads, Hulu without ads, and ESPN+ for $19.99 a month

“Legacy” customers will be able to keep their bundle that includes Disney+ without ads, Hulu with ads, and ESPN+ for $14.99 a month.

The new Disney+ Basic plan will have about four minutes of ads per hour, according to reports. In keeping with their family-friendly image, Disney plans to ban ads for alcohol or political content.

These new tiers will take effect on December 8th, 2022.

Hulu and ESPN+ Will Also Go Up

As for the other streaming services owned by Disney, they will also see a price increase.

For Hulu:

  • Hulu Basic (with ads) will go to $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year
  • Hulu Premium (no ads) will go to $14.99 a month.

These changes will take effect on October 10th, 2022.

For Hulu + Live TV:

  • Basic includes Disney+ with ads, Hulu with ads and live TV, and ESPN+ for $69.99 a month (same as current price)
  • Premium includes Disney+ with no ads, Hulu with no ads and live TV, and ESPN+ for $82.99 a month

Legacy customers can keep their plan that includes Disney+ with no ads, Hulu with ads and live TV, and ESPN+ for $74.99 a month.

Changes for Hulu + Live TV take effect on December 8th, 2022.

And finally for ESPN+:

  • ESPN+ (with ads) is either $9.99 a month or $99.99 per year.

These changes take effect on August 23rd, 2022
