The popular and critically-acclaimed video game franchise “BioShock” is being adapted into a live action movie for Netflix. The streaming giant is working directly with 2K and Take Two Interactive, the companies behind the games.

The BioShock series takes place across multiple dystopian landscapes and blends together both sci-fi and horror elements. Plot elements often focus on societal and and existential questions. Altogether the series has sold over 39 million units worldwide.

Not much is known about this project, as no casting details or release dates have been announced. This announcement comes ahead of the much buzzed about release of Halo, another series based on a popular video game franchise, on Paramount Plus.
