Blockbuster Video will be launching their own streaming service, Blockbuster+. This was announced at a press conference today by the new CEO of Blockbuster, B. Kiend Rewynd.
“Really we were just holding out for the right time to launch a streaming service. This is that time and Netflix is shook,” Rewynd said.
Blockbuster+ will have three memberships types at launch:
- Blockbuster+ Basic (With Ads) for $7.99/month
- Blockbuster+ Premium (Fewer Ads) for $59.99/month
- Blockbuster+ Very Basic (Just Ads) for $4.99/month
Anyone who failed to return their double-VHS copy of Titanic in the 90s will need to sign up for the Very Basic (Just Ads) plan as penance.
One relic of the past that’s gone, for real, this time, though? Late fees. “But share your password with a buddy and we’ll send you to f**king court,” said Rewynd.
