Disney announced today that they will begin offering a new membership tier for Disney+ subscribers later this year. This plan will be at a lower price point and feature advertising, similar to Hulu's ad-supported plan.

“Expanding access to Disney+ to a broader audience at a lower price point is a win for everyone – consumers, advertisers, and our storytellers,” said Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution. “More consumers will be able to access our amazing content. Advertisers will be able to reach a wider audience, and our storytellers will be able to share their incredible work with more fans and families.”

Additional details have not been revealed yet, including a release date. This promises to be a big year for Disney+ with premiers of big shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as a range of Marvel content. Recently it was announced that Netflix's Marvel shows will move to Disney+ on March 16th.
